Empty No More
Content Policy
This is a draft, and the company behind it is not named yet. Every dashed place below is waiting for a detail that has not been decided - a name, an address, a country. Nothing here has been guessed at, and nothing here is invented: a blank is shown as a blank.
The wording is otherwise finished and is what will stand. Search engines are told to ignore this page until it is.
This is a tool for photographs of rooms in property that is being sold or let. The short rule is: send a photograph of a room, and one you are entitled to send.
Send
Photographs of rooms in a property you are marketing, or are about to. The whole room, shot wide from a doorway, with the floor and two walls in frame - that is what the machine is built for.
Empty rooms, or rooms with somebody else's furniture still in them. Both are expected; you say which when you upload.
Do not send
- Photographs that are not yours to use. A picture taken from another agent's listing is theirs, and furnishing it does not change that. The same goes for a photographer's work you have not paid for the right to use.
- Rooms you have no right to market. A property you are not instructed on, or a home you photographed without the owner's or occupier's agreement.
- People. Not the seller, not a tenant, not a child in the corner of the frame. We do not build this for portraits and we do not want photographs of faces on our server.
- Somebody's life on display. A room still lived in can show far more than a room: family photographs, letters and paperwork on a desk, medicine, a screen with a message on it, a name on the door. Photograph the room after those are put away, or do not send it.
- Anything sexual, and in particular anything involving anybody who might be a child.
- Documents, screens and papers. Passports, cards, forms, contracts. This is not a scanner, and those carry data we have no business holding.
- Anything that identifies somebody else without their say - a name plate, a house number in a mirror, a calendar with somebody's week on it.
Why that list is longer than you might expect
A photograph of a room is usually somebody's home. It leaves this country on its way to the machine that furnishes it, and the person whose home it is did not choose that - you did. The list above is what makes that defensible: send the room, not the people in it or the life in it.
What we check
Very little, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. The machine looks at the file to see whether it is a photograph and whether it is a workable size. Nobody reviews the picture itself, and the machine has no opinion about what is in it.
So this policy is mostly a promise you make, not a gate we run you through. If something on this list turns up and we learn of it, the account is closed.
Telling us about something
A room furnished here is downloaded by the person who made it and is not published by us anywhere - there is no gallery, no feed, and no way to see somebody else's work. So there is very little here for anybody else to find.
If you nonetheless believe something on this service infringes your work, shows a property or a person it should not, or breaks this policy, write to us with:
- what it is, in enough detail that we can find it;
- why you say it is wrong - which right of yours, or which rule above;
- how to reach you.
We look at every report ourselves, decide within a few days, and write back saying what we did. We keep a note of the report and the decision, because a pattern of reports about one account is itself worth seeing.
If we act against your account
We tell you what we did and why, in writing, unless the law forbids it. Reply and a person - not a machine - looks at it again. If we were wrong, we undo it and say so.
Being wrong about this is worse for us than for you: an account closed by mistake is a customer who will never come back, and we know it.
What closing an account means
Access stops. Rooms already downloaded stay yours. Whether unspent tokens come back depends on why we closed it - see the refund policy.
