One photo in.
A room worth viewing.
Send the room as it stands - bare, or full of somebody else's furniture. It comes back furnished several ways, cleared of what was in it and sized for the portals, with your own photograph alongside.
You upload a room. Then you say what it should become.
Four things happen, and three of them are your decision, taken before the machine starts.
-
You upload
The room as it stands, straight off your phone
Shot from the doorway in whatever light there is. Nothing to tidy first, nothing to set up.
-
Cleared, then furnished
Somebody else's furniture out, new furniture in
One charge covers both, and you get 3 versions to choose from. An empty room skips the clearing and costs less.
-
You choose the style
Scandinavian, mid-century, industrial
Named before the machine starts, so the furniture arrives as a set rather than as whatever it felt like.
-
You choose the room
Bedroom, living room, home office - same four walls
A bare room is whichever room you are selling, and which one it is is your decision, not the machine's.
An empty room is whichever room you are selling
One photograph, six passes. The walls, the window and the floor are the same in every one. What changes is what the room is for, and what it is furnished with - and both are your decision, taken before the machine starts.
What the room is for
-
Bedroom A bed against the long wall, the window left free -
Living room Seating turned towards the balcony door -
Home office A desk along the wall, shelving beside it
How it is furnished
-
Scandinavian Pale birch, white and grey linen, nothing ornate -
Mid-century Walnut on tapered legs, olive and mustard -
Industrial Black metal, tan leather, reclaimed wood
Six versions of one photograph, from the same upload. Living rooms, bedrooms, home offices - anything with a floor to stand furniture on.
Every room in the listing.
The same price each.
The spare room, the hallway bedroom, the one nobody can picture a use for - the rooms a listing usually skips because staging them costs as much as the rest.
Several versions,
so the choice stays yours.
One upload comes back furnished more than one way, and no two are the same: a different arrangement, a different mood, a different buyer in mind. You pick the one that sells the room. Your own photograph comes back with them, because that is what the portals ask you to publish alongside.

On your device
You drop in a photo
Straight off the phone or the camera. Your browser turns it into a plain photograph before anything is sent - and drops the location and camera data while it is there, so those never reach us at all.
Nothing has left your phone yet
-
On our server
What is not yours is cleared
Only if you said the room had furniture in it. You mark that yourself when you upload - no machine guesses it, because a machine that guesses wrong charges wrong.

On our server
The room is furnished, several ways
One request, 3 versions back, each furnished its own way - so there is something to choose between rather than one answer to accept.

In your account
You look, then you take them
Your own photograph sits beside the versions, because comparing is the point: windows, floor, ceiling. Yours to use anywhere - we claim nothing over them.

| Compared on | A stager | Retouching | Openhouse |
|---|---|---|---|
| What arrives | Real furniture, in the room, for the day | One edit on one photograph | 3 furnished versions of the room, and your own picture beside them |
| What you pay for | Hire, van, labour, a weekend | Each picture, quoted on its own | The room - 10 tokens empty, 20 with furniture in it, however many versions come back |
| How long | A weekend, booked in advance | Per picture, per quote | 43–71 seconds a room, measured |
| Rooms per listing | The main rooms - each one costs furniture and labour | Each picture quoted on its own | Every room, the same price each - including the ones a listing usually skips |
| What is left after | The furniture leaves, and the photographs stop being true | The edit, with nothing to check it against | Your own photograph, kept alongside every version, so the two can be published as a pair |
Swipe the table sideways to see all three.

Each row is one room, furnished twice from the same photograph. Above: a loft with an exposed brick wall - a living room with the sofa facing the window, then a bedroom with the bed along the plain wall opposite the brick. Below: a room with a corner window - a home office down the long wall, then a bedroom with the bed under the glazing. Four pictures, two uploads, and in each pair the brickwork, the floor and the window are the ones that were photographed. Our own test interiors; every piece of furniture in them was put there by the machine this page sells.
What it costs

Questions people ask first
What comes back, exactly?
3 furnished versions of the room you uploaded, each one a full-resolution file sized for the portals. Your own photograph comes back with them, untouched, so you can publish the pair the way portals ask. You choose which version goes on the listing; nothing is published for you.
Is this allowed in a listing?
Staged photographs are normal practice. Your own photograph comes back with every version, untouched, so you can publish the pair - which is what portals ask for - and say in the listing that the furniture is virtual. Saying so is yours to do, and the rules where you list are yours to check: they differ by country and we will not pretend to know yours.
What files can I upload?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and AVIF, up to 30 MB and at least 640 pixels on the short side. Whatever the format, your browser prepares it before sending - you do not have to convert anything yourself.
How do you know a room has furniture in it?
You tell us, when you upload. No machine decides it: one that guesses wrong charges wrong. Marking an empty room as furnished only wastes your own tokens, so there is nothing to game.
What happens to the location data in my photo?
It is removed on your device, during that same conversion, and never reaches our server. A photograph of a property carries the coordinates of where it was taken - somebody's home, and usually not yours. We are not deleting that carefully; we never have it.
Is it a subscription?
No. You buy tokens, they sit there until you use them, and they do not expire. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
How long do I have to download the files?
Rooms are kept for 7 days and then deleted, along with the photograph you sent. Your history page shows how long each one has left.
What if it comes out badly?
If the work fails outright, the tokens go back automatically - you do not have to ask. If it finishes but every version is wrong, write to us and we will look at it.
Can I try it before paying?
Confirm your email and your first room is free - no card, nothing to cancel.
Who else sees the photograph?
The service that furnishes the room, which is fal.ai in the United States. It is a photograph of the inside of somebody's home, so this is worth saying plainly rather than in small print: keep people, paperwork on the table and children's things out of frame. Nobody at our end looks at your photographs as a matter of course. The full account is on the what happens to your photo page.
